State Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) announced that she would be hosting office hours in the northern part of the state's 79th district, which she represents, in a press release published on Friday. The release promoted the move as "a way for area residents to easily access important state resources, meet their State Representative, and have their questions answered on important pieces of legislation."

“I am very excited to get started with my Monee satellite office hours,” Haas said. "These office hours are a great way for my office and me to connect with each corner of my district, to meet more constituents, and hear directly what issues are important to them. It’s one way I hope to continue to represent our community well in Springfield: by making the services of my legislative office accessible to everyone in the 79th District."

Office hours will begin on Feb. 15 and will continue to be held every Wednesday at the Monee Village Hall (5130 W Court St.) and run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of Haas' staff will be available to speak at length with constituents about any concerns, questions, and comments that they may have.

On Feb. 9, Haas announced her monthly local business spotlight, which focused on Bourbonnais home décor and gifts shop The Swanky Home. The store has been a local home décor staple since 2020 and was born from Anna Kolokythas' passion for decorating. After building her own home, Kolokythas understood the need for a business catered to locals' specific décor needs and created The Swanky Home. Haas presented her with an official certificate of recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives to honor her contribution to the community.

On Jan. 12, Haas published another press release announcing that she had been named Assistant Republican Leader and would be working alongside Republican Leader Tony McCombie (R-Sterling).

“It’s an honor for me to be named to this leadership team and I am as motivated as ever to work alongside my fellow leaders in our Republican caucus to get to work,” Haas said. “There is no shortage of issues we need to address to keep moving our state forward, and I am well-equipped to start having those productive conversations that will get us started.”
