State Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) recently acknowledged National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Week.
"Happy National FFA Week to our Illinois FFA chapters and the young leaders participating in FFA programs across the nation! #NationalFFAWeek," Haas wrote in a Feb. 23 Facebook post.
The Illinois FFA Association kicked off the year with a message on Facebook stating, "Happy FFA Week Illinois FFA! The Major State Officer Team is kicking the week off with SAE Sunday. We have all shared a glimpse of what our Supervised Agriculture Experiences are like, and we encourage you to do the same! Keep a lookout for an SAE article to see all of the opportunites that come with a record book! #FFAWeek2023 #NationalFFAWeek #electrifyilffa."
The Illinois FFA dates back to 1928, when State Supervisor of Agriculture Education J.E. Hill introduced the Future Farmers of America program to teachers at a state teachers' convention.
Haas represents the 79th House District. According to her bio page, she has worked as a social worker for decades and joined the Helen Wheeler Center for Community Mental Health becoming the organization's CEO in 2000.
