Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library Board of Trustees met April 18.

The monthly meeting of the Latzer Library Board was called to order by Sharon Rinderer at 5:00 p.m. on 4/18/23.
Roll call showed the following members were present:
Nancy Genteman
Susan Martz
Justin McLaughlin
Sharon Rinderer
Joshua Short
Shaun Voegele Absent were Marshall Rinderer and Bill Wagner.
Louis Latzer, Associate Member Angela Kim, Director
Associate Member William Piper was absent.
March Minutes: The Board reviewed the minutes. Nancy Genteman motioned to approve the minutes and Josh Short seconded. Motion carried.
Public Forum: None.
Treasurer’s Report: Short presented the March Report for review. Justin McLaughlin motioned to approve the report and Genteman seconded. Motion carried.
March Bills: Bills were reviewed. Short motioned to approve the bills and McLaughlin seconded. Roll was called. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report: Angela Kim has arranged for an instructor to train her to use the positive pay system.
Per Capita Grant: Waiting on an updated bid without the one larger unit.
Cabinets were removed and wall was built. Painter and cabinet installer will begin April 25. Electrical wiring has been organized.
The Optimists donated $5,000.00 to use on the Children’s Circulation desk project. Kim will purchase a plaque to acknowledge their support as well as the Illinois State Libraries.
Kim sent spreads to various local publications in support of National Library Week.
The family of philanthropist, Charles E. McKittrick Jr., donated rare books, scrapbooks, and a Don Quixote statue.
Kim is exploring the possibility of a pollinator/butterfly garden and a landscape design for the corner on Washington Street.
The Summer Reading Program plans are complete and the new circulation desk will be ready by May 1 in time for summer reading sign up.
Kim is barcoding and re-classifying the juvenile non-fiction section.
Fellow board member, Joyce Zerban, passed away after a brief illness. The family listed the Children’s Library as her donation preference. Zerban had been a board member since 2005.
Book Committee Report: 19 books were donated.
Unfinished Business: See Librarian’s Report regarding Per Capita Grant and National Library Week.
Statement of Economic Interest forms are due May1, 2023.
New Business: Short brought up possible fund raising events. A Food Truck Night and an event involving Schlafly Brewing were discussed.
Other Business: None.
Adjournment: Genteman moved to adjourn and Susan Martz seconded. Motion passed.
