Coal City Village Board met May 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Mayor Terry Halliday called to order the regular meeting of the Coal City Village Board in the boardroom of the Village Hall. Roll call-Trustees Dave Togliatti, Ross Bradley, Dan Greggain, Dave Spesia, Tim Bradley and Sarah Beach. Also in attendance were Matt Fritz, village administrator, Police Chief Chris Harseim, Ryan Hansen from Chamlin Engineering and attorney Mark Heinle.

All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the Special Village Board meeting on April 20, 2023 were presented for approval. R. Bradley moved to approve the minutes as written for the Special Meeting on April 20, 2023, second by Togliatti. Roll call-Ayes; Togliatti, Bradley, Greggain, Spesia, Bradley and Beach. Nays; none. Motion carried.

The minutes of the April 26, 2023 regular Village Board meeting were presented. Greggain moved to approve the minutes as written, second by R. Bradley. Roll call-Ayes; Togliatti, R. Bradley, Greggain, Spesia and Beach. Nays; none. Abstain; T. Bradley. Motion carried.

The warrant list was presented and reviewed by the Board. T. Bradley moved to approve the warrant list as presented, second by Greggain. Roll call-Ayes; Togliatti, Bradley, Greggain, Spesia, Bradley and Beach. Nays; none. Motion carried.

There was no Public Comment at this meeting.

Grundy County Judge Scott Belt swore-in the newly elected official of the Village of Coal City. Those officials were:

David A. Spesia-President

Daniel J. Greggain-Trustee

Pamela Noffsinger-Trustee

David M. Togliatti-Trustee

Alexis Stone-Village Clerk

(Following the Swearing-in ceremony, Clerk Noffsinger took her seat as newly elected Village Trustee Noffsinger and newly elected Village Clerk, Alexis Stone continued with the meeting minutes).

Mayor Spesia congratulated the newly elected officials who were sworn in on May 10th. He thanked his family and the citizens of Coal City for the opportunity to serve the Village of Coal City. Mayor Spesia thanked Mayor Halliday for his time and dedication served as trustee and mayor for the Village of Coal City. He thanked Ross Bradley for his 12 years of service. Mayor Spesia stated he is looking forward to working with the new board in the future.

Trustee Beach gave a reminder for the community event "May is for Mamas" scheduled for May 8th-May 11th. Receive a chance, with purchase to win Mother's Day basket.

Trustee Bradley congratulated the newly elected officials and commended their families for allowing them to serve in such a role.

Trustee Greggain stated that he is looking forward to working with the new board for the next four years.

Trustee Noffsinger informed the board that she distributed business cards and if needed to please update them and turn them in to Clerk Stone. She thanked the residents of Coal City for the opportunity to serve as Trustee.

Trustee Togliatti congratulated Mayor Spesia and the new officials on the board.

Clerk Stone stated that she is looking forward to serving as village clerk.

Attorney Heinle congratulated the newly elected officials. He offered his assistance to Clerk Stone with any future questions or concerns.

Ryan Hansen stated that we received back the contracts for the Street program. The bid date is scheduled for June 6th held at 10 a.m. located at village hall. Hansen stated he will connect with Clerk Stone with more information. He stated the paving work located at the wastewater treatment plant is scheduled to start the following week. He congratulated the newly elected officials.

Chief Harseim congratulated Mayor Spesia. He summarized three reports including 2023 cases, 2023 open cases and the Grundy County Proactive Unit Activity Report.

Mr. Fritz thanked everyone that attended the meeting. He congratulated Mayor Spesia and the new board. He offered his assistance with any future questions that the new board might have.

Bradley moved to adjourn the meeting, second by Beach. Roll call-Ayes; Togliatti, Noffsinger, Greggain, Bradley and Beach. Nays; none. Absent; none. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
