Month-in-Review:
December at the ECC is a magical time! Preschool students enjoyed Mr. Scott and his Amazing Musical Backpack show on Friday, December 8th. Mr. Scott visited the ECC in the morning for our AM preschool and the afternoon for the PM preschool.
On Friday, December 15th, Santa’s Workshop returned to the ECC. Students were given the opportunity to shop during PE times and preschool shopped throughout the day. Many students left on this date stating “this was the best day ever!”
Students have enjoyed every minute of finding the ECC elf each day and shopping in the Super Store for holiday related items. For the month of December, students have been working to earn “Bus Bucks” for good behavior on the bus and special classroom tickets for good behavior in the classroom. On Thursday, December 21st, all students met in the gym for morning announcements and 10 random names were drawn from the bucket of special tickets for a special prize.
On Thursday, December 21st, students at the ECC enjoyed a holiday dance party! Students had the opportunity to come to the gym in the morning or afternoon to enjoy 30 minutes of holiday dance party fun!! Thursday was also pajama day, so a very fun day overall!
Recognition:
A huge thank you to Mr. Schmitt for sending NHS students to help the students at the ECC shop during Santa’s Workshop. The students were amazing with our ECC students and it was a tremendous help to our littles and staff.
Thank you to Mr. Petersen and Mrs. Planeta for being so flexible the month of December. The gym has been used for so many reasons the month of December and was disruptive at times to the PE schedule.
After Winter Break, Emily Nolan will return to the ECC as the nurse. Becca Acred has stepped in this first semester to be our ECC nurse and she did a tremendous job! Thank you to Becca for the amazing work you did this 1st semester of school in our nurse’s office which is probably one of the busiest places at the ECC!

Even though December is a short month in terms of days in session, it is full of many exciting activities. Every day was a different theme day that our students and staff participated in. This year we did ‘Swiftie December’ and each day had a different era such as Ugly Sweater Era, Hot Cocoa Era, Grinch Era, etc.
The Madrigals came to perform for our students on December 1st. What an amazing group of students!
On December 13th many of our students participated in Winter Wonderland at the High School in the afternoon. Thanks to Jack Micetich and his many helpers for offering this amazing event. The Elementary School had around 100 students participating.
Santa’s Workshop was held on December 14th. We had a lot of vendors come in with gifts for our students to purchase for their loved ones. Every student was able to shop thanks to the very generous $100 donation.
On December 19th all the students participated in ‘Reindeer Games’. Everyone took turns in minute-to-win-it games such as marshmallow rolling, snowball throwing and Christmas Tree building. That really got the students excited.
On Thursday, December 21st & Friday, December 22nd the teachers had classroom parties and each grade had a dance party to end the week.
A special thanks to our PBS Committee for arranging the Reindeer Games.
I also want to thank the CCES staff for staying positive and always remembering how excited our students get during the holidays.
