FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County, Illinois, on September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we requested records of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until the date of the request. The specific details we sought include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will aid in holding public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.

We also indicated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information. We await Dekalb County's response and remain committed to keeping the public informed about local government affairs.
