Carol Mary Meysembourg (Starr), 94, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on April 17, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Chester and Elsie Starr, Carol graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1948. After her marriage to James Leo Meysembourg in 1958, she moved to Illinois, where she raised her three daughters and later rejoined the workforce as a surgical housekeeping staff member at Mercy Hospital until her retirement in 1992.

Carol was known for her love of reading, her dedication to her church, and her commitment to caring for her husband Jim until his passing in 2001. She is survived by her daughters Jane Bernat (Michael), Christine Franklin (Phillip), and Joan Scott (Roger), as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, son-in-law, and husband.

Carol's final years were spent pursuing her passion for reading at the Morris Library and receiving loving care from the staff at the Pointe and the Gardens in Morris, Illinois, and Lightways Hospice.

Memorial services will be held in Dubuque, Iowa, at a later date. Contributions can be made to the Morris Public Library or Dubuque Hospice in lieu of flowers.
