State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris) participated in a significant meeting on December 2-3, joining legislators nationwide in Denver to address critical energy policy issues. The gathering focused on grid resilience, foreign land ownership and energy security, data centers, and the diversification of the American energy portfolio. Participants also toured the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado.

"As the co-chair of NCSL’s Energy Supply Task Force, this week’s meeting was a great opportunity to discuss energy policies that will benefit our states," stated Sen. Sue Rezin (IL-R). She expressed her intent to continue collaborating with task force members to create impactful policies for lawmakers addressing evolving energy challenges.

The National Conference of State Legislatures organized the event through its Energy Supply Task Force, established in 2009. The task force provides a platform for state legislators and staff to examine crucial state and federal energy policy issues. It also assists in developing NCSL energy policy and facilitates communication between state legislatures, Congress, the U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal entities.

"Given the fact that energy policy is one of the most important topics currently being addressed by all 50 states, NCSL’s Task Force on Energy Supply meeting last week was on point. The informative presentations and robust discussions that took place allowed our members to bring tangible insights back home to share with their colleagues," remarked Vice Chair Sen. Bryan Feldman (MD-D).

Key takeaways from the meeting included updates on data centers' impact on states and electrical grids, discussions on foreign land ownership affecting U.S. energy security, and bipartisan talks about new technologies improving grid resiliency and diversifying energy sources.

NCSL stands as a leading bipartisan organization representing 7,386 legislators and over 25,000 legislative staff across the nation. It also offers extensive research and analysis across various agriculture-related topics.
