The proposed taxes include levies on digital advertising, capital gains, corporate income, and an increase in the estate tax. These proposals come as Illinois families already face the highest overall tax burden in the nation.

Critics argue that instead of reducing waste or making responsible fiscal decisions, Democrats continue to prioritize costly programs such as free healthcare for undocumented immigrants and expect taxpayers to cover these expenses.

Senate Republicans have expressed their opposition to these measures. They advocate for fiscal responsibility and resist efforts that they believe would further burden working families and small businesses.
