Janet Ellen Shenk Caise, aged 92, passed away on June 14, 2025. Born in Braidwood to Arnold and Thelma Shenk, Janet’s life was characterized by dedication, love, and joy. She began her journey in nursing after graduating from Silver Cross Nursing School, embarking on a fulfilling career that included roles at Braidwood Nuclear Station, Silver Cross Hospital, and later as a school nurse at Reed Custer School District. Janet's personal life was equally rich; she shared 48 years of marriage with her husband Richard until his passing in 2002.

In her leisure time, Janet enjoyed finding treasures on QVC and Lands' End, sharing meals out with family and friends, and creating memories filled with stories and laughter. She is mourned by her siblings Arlene Corneils and Jim Shenk, nieces, nephews, and was preceded in death by her husband Richard and nephews Steven and Kim Caise. A memorial gathering in her honor will take place on June 18, 2025, at UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris.

Donations in memory of Janet may be made to the American Cancer Society or Morris VFW Post 649. Janet will be laid to rest at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
