Illinois State Senator Sue Rezin recently used her social media platform to recognize key staff members and comment on a violent incident at Utah Valley University. Rezin, a Republican representing Illinois' 38th Senate District since 2010, acknowledged the contributions of her team and addressed concerns about political violence.

On September 8, 2025, Rezin posted birthday wishes for two of her colleagues. In one post she wrote, "Wishing a very happy birthday to my Chief of Staff, Shannon! Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the countless ways you keep our office moving forward. We’re grateful for all that you do. Hope you enjoy your special day! #HappyBirthday #TeamRezin https://t.co/KdA92IFS1x".

Later that same day, she extended similar sentiments to another staff member: "I would also like to wish a very happy birthday to our Caucus' Floor Director, Nicole! Thank you for all of the hard work you do to keep things running smoothly for us on the Senate Floor. I hope you have a wonderful day! #HappyBirthday #ILSenGOP https://t.co/N7JRlKMxGk".

Two days later, on September 10, 2025, Rezin commented on an incident at Utah Valley University involving Charlie Kirk. She stated: "What happened at Utah Valley University today is horrific. Political violence has no place in our nation. Charlie Kirk has spent years encouraging young people to get involved in political debate and civic life. My thoughts are with Charlie and everyone affected by this".

Sue Rezin was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2010 after replacing Gary G. Dahl as senator for the state's 38th district.
