Village of Diamond Village Board met Jan. 27.

The scheduled meeting of the Diamond Village Board was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. with Mayor Teresa “Terry” Kernc presiding. Upon a roll call Commissioners present Jeff Kasher, Denise Brown, and Dave Warner. Absent – Dean Johnson.

Approval of January 13, 2026, Minutes

Mayor Kernc presented the minutes. MOTION was made by Commissioner Kasher, SECOND by Commissioner Brown to approve January 13, 2026, meeting minutes and place on file. All Ayes: Motion Carried.

Approval of January 27, 2026, Bill List

Mayor Kernc presented the bill list. MOTION was made by Commissioner Brown, SECOND by Commissioner Warner to approve January 27, 2026, bill list and place it on file. All Ayes: Motion Carried.

Approve Old Cobb Building Property Lines/Lease

This item was tabled.

Discuss Liquor License for Birdie Barn

Mayor Kernc welcomed Andrew Glastetter and Christian Matheny of Birdie Barn Golf who inquired about obtaining a liquor license.

Approve Mayor Kernc’s Hotel/Lodging expense to the IML Lobby Day April 28-30, 2026, for $314.64

Mayor Kernc presented the expense. MOTION was made by Commissioner Warner, SECOND by Commissioner Kasher to Approve Mayor Kernc’s Hotel/Lodging expense to the IML Lobby Day April 28-30, 2026, for $314.64. All Ayes: Motion Carried.

Approve Annual Contribution in Support of the Grundy County Transit System in the Amount of $1,000.00

Mayor Kernc presented to contribution and asked that we consider raising the contribution to $1,250.00. The board agreed. MOTION was made by Commissioner Brown, SECOND by Commissioner Kasher to Approve Annual Contribution in Support of the Grundy County Transit System in the Amount of $1,250.00. All Ayes: Motion Carried.

Approve Hardware and Software Maintenance Agreement for March 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027, with Ferguson Waterworks in the Amount of $5006.33 Mayor Kernc presented the agreement. MOTION was made by Commissioner Warner, SECOND by Commissioner Kasher to Approve Hardware and Software Maintenance Agreement for March 1, 2026- February 28, 2027, with Ferguson Waterworks in the Amount of $5006.33. All Ayes: Motion Carried.

Approve 2026 Grundy County Sheriff Contract

Mayor Kernc presented the contract. MOTION was made by Commissioner Kasher, SECOND by Commissioner Brown to Approve 2026 Grundy County Sheriff Contract in the Amount of $118,853.73. All Ayes: Motion Carried.

Discuss Removing Sewer Charge of $215.53 at 2465 E Division Street

Mayor Kernc stated a water leak was discovered at 2465 E Division Street on December 31, 2025. The board agreed to remove the sewer charge because the water did not go into the sewer system. MOTION was made by Commissioner Kasher, SECOND by Commissioner Brown to Remove Sewer Charge of $215.53 at 2465 E Division Street. All Ayes: Motion Carried.

Mayor Kernc reported there was nothing significant or out of the ordinary to report.

Public Works Supervisor Jim Dunning stated there were a couple minor issues within the past few days that have since been corrected. Mayor Kernc suggested getting the projects (street maintenance, force main, softeners, etc.) out to bid early.
