Village of Minooka Village Board met Feb. 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Village President, Ric Offerman, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Trustees present: Robin White, Ray Mason, Dennis Martin, Barry Thompson, Joshawa Stell and Gabriela Martinez. Also present: Dan Duffy- Village Administrator, Austin Haacke-Finance Director, Ryan Anderson-Superintendent of Public Works, Chief Justin Meyer, and Village Clerk- Orsola Filus

Public Forum_-Resident Laura was present to speak on the topic of gas-powered bicycles. She wanted to know if there were laws because it’s becoming a problem. The kids are riding around 2-4 hours in the afternoon and are not older than 13. She said she backs up to Aux Sable and sees them riding around with no lights on. She said she had put in calls, but nothing has been addressed. Chief Meyer advised he would look into this if she could give him more info.

Annual Police Report- Chief Meyer gave a speech on the 15th annual report. The Police department has gotten $50,000 worth of grants and donations. There were 298 arrests, 25 DUIs and 199 traffic crashes. Beginning in 2026, under the SAFE-T Act, all officers must complete a certification every 3 years. Trivia night is Saturday and the tables are full. Employee Recognition was given for each month. Officer Kyle Vonderheide was nominated as Officer of the Year. Kyle gives 100% on each call. In 2025, he helped with a thorough investigation and with all his hard work and dedication, this very deserving. Chief Meyer presented him with his Police Officer of the year award.

Review of the Village Board meeting minutes from January 27, 2026

Trustee Stell moved to approve the minutes with the amendment that Trustee Thompson and him voted nay for the Conditional Permitted Use for 207 W. St. Mary’s Church, Trustee White seconded the amendment to the minutes.

Ayes; Thompson, White, Martinez, Stell, Mason, Martin

Nays: None

Absent: None

Motion carried.

Trustee White moved, Trustee Martinez seconded the motion to approve the Bills & Transfers
