Minooka Elementary School District 201 Board of Education met June 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Vicki Allen, John Clucas, Ed Cronin, Andy Karceski, Al Skwarczynski, James Satorius

ABSENT: Renee Thompson

1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by President James Satorius.

Roll call was answered as indicated. Others present were: Kris Monn, Joshua Ruland, Sara Piotrowski, Kelly Clucas, Marie Clucas, Amber Haas, Jenny Lindsey, Kevin Smith, Teri Miller, Denise Klina, and Lori Shanholtzer.

Moved by Skwarczynski, seconded by Karceski to approve the agenda as presented. Aye: Skwarczynski, Karceski, Allen, Clucas, Cronin, Satorius Motion Approved.

2. Public Comments and Recognitions

2.01 Comment from the Employees and the Public Community Member Denise Kalina addressed the Board asking if there has been a plan developed regarding the bullying situation that was discussed at the previous board meeting.

3. Consent Agenda Moved by Clucas, seconded by Allen to approve the list of bills, minutes from the May 21, 2018 regular board meeting, treasurer's report, destruction of the closed session recordings from June 2016, and FOIA Requests, and prevailing wage ordinance as presented. Aye: Clucas, Allen, Cronin, Karceski, Skwarczynski, Satorius Motion Approved.

Moved by Skwarczynski, seconded by Allen to approve the personnel report as presented. Aye: Skwarczynski, Allen, Cronin, Karceski, Satorius Abstain: Clucas Motion Approved.

4. Discussion and Information Items

4.01 Strategic Planning Process In early June 2018 our Strategic Planning Team met for the final time to consider feedback received from our stakeholders on the draft of our Strategic Plan. After the Team discussed the feedback and made final edits final, CEC Facilitator Perry Soldwedel developed the Strategic Plan in draft form for the Board's consideration. Dr. Monn presented the Draft Strategic Plan at the board meeting and thanked the members of the Strategic Planning Team that put in many hours of time and effort to collaborate on this project to provide a vision and direction for our District for years to come. It will be presented at the July board meeting for approval.

4.02 School Improvement Plan - Minooka Primary Center Minooka Primary principal Teri Miller and teachers Amber Haas and Jennifer Lindsay presented Minooka Primary Center's school improvement plan.

4.03 Spring NWEA MAP Assessment Results Dr. Ruland shared data from the NWEA MAP Assessments results. Detailed information can be found in the electronic board packet.

5. Action Items

5.01 Approval of Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Minooka Elementary Education Association Moved by Allen, seconded by Skwarczynski to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Minooka Elementary Education Association as presented. Aye: Allen, Skwarczynski, Cronin, Karceski, Satorius Abstain: Clucas Motion approved.

5.02 First Reading of New Board Policy 6:135 Moved by Clucas, seconded by Allen to approve the first reading of new board policy 6:135 as presented. Aye: Clucas, Allen, Cronin, Karceski, Skwarczynski, Satorius Motion approved.

6. COMMUNICATION

6.01 Administrative Reports

Dr. Ruland Report Dr. Ruland shared information regarding Fine Arts scheduling for the 2018-2019 school year. He stated that the team is looking into different options and will report back to the Board.

Dr. Ruland shared information regarding the three summer school programs. (Dive Into Summer, Jump Start, Enrichment Program)

Dr. Monn Report Dr. Monn shared information and cost regarding having a demographer prepare enrollment projections. After discussion the Board decided to stay with the projections that Dr. Monn has calculated instead of having the cost of a demographer.

Dr. Monn stated that August 20, 2018 is the deadline if the Board decides to put a Referendum on the ballot for the November election.

Dr. Monn stated that he will have a preliminary 2018-2019 budget ready at the July board meeting

8.01 District Personnel and Administrative Salaries for 2018-2019 Moved by Clucas, seconded by Skwarczynski to approve District Personnel and Administrative Salaries for 2018-2019 as presented. Aye: Clucas, Skwarczynski, Allen, Cronin, Karceski, Satorius Motion approved.

8.02 Amendment to Superintendent Contract to increase salary for 2018-2019 Moved by Skwarczynski, seconded by Clucas to approve the Amendment to Superintendent

Contract to increase salary for 2018-2019 as presented. Aye: Skwarczynski, Clucas, Allen, Cronin, Karceski, Satorius Motion approved.

9. Adjournment Moved by Clucas, seconded by Allen to adjourn the regular meeting at 8:20 p.m. Aye: Clucas, Allen, Cronin, Karceski, Skwarczynski, Satorius Motion Carried at 8:20 p.m.
