Gardner S Wilmington Township High School District 73 students suspended 25 times in a single school year

Gardner S Wilmington Township High School District 73 reported 25 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 25 students during the year. That equates to 12.8 percent of the 195 students enrolled.

Of the 18 in-school suspensions, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 11 incidents. There were four incidents of tobacco. For seven incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for alcohol. The category includes two incidents. There were two incidents of violence without physical injury. For four incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
