Coal City Middle School issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.
The CCMS Marching Band has been diligently rehearsing since the beginning of the year for
their upcoming parade performances. Before they learned how to march, the students worked
on their parade tune and drum cadence in the classroom. Then, the students began working on
marching basics and marching outside on the track behind the middle school. The color guard
has been rehearsing separately before school since the first week of September, with a high
school color guard member instructing them. This week, the 7th and 8th grade students
combined for rehearsal, along with two 6th grade banner carriers, and marched outside to
practice for the parades.
The two parades the band will be participating in are the Grundy County Corn Festival Parade
on Sunday, September 30th, and the Coal City Oktoberfest Parade on October 6th. The band
will be performing “September” by Earth, Wind, & Fire, as well as the drum cadence, “Time
Travel,” performed by the drumline. They are very excited to show off their hard work and hope
to see you at the parades cheering them on!
