Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting Oct. 11 to discuss its licensing
and oversight activities, license renewal and the associated environmental review, and recent leaks at
the Westinghouse Columbia nuclear fuel fabrication facility.
The meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. at The Medallion Conference Center,
7309 Garners Ferry Road, in Columbia, S.C. There will be an open house 30 minutes before the
meeting for informal discussion.
During the meeting, NRC staff will explain the agency’s role and responsibilities related to
licensing and oversight programs at the Westinghouse Columbia nuclear fuel fabrication facility. The
NRC staff will discuss the license renewal process, including the environmental review, which staff reopened
after being informed of relevant new information. The NRC staff will also provide information
regarding the NRC’s response to the leaks at the facility.
