Coal City Community Unit School District 1 issued the following announcement on Nov. 3.
These people are dealing with the aftermath of the destruction of Hurricane Michael.
We were contacted by a former graduate of Coal City High School who is currently living in the area affected. The students there are sharing schools and are trying to get back to a regular routine. We would like to show how well we can help a fellow Coaler out--Once a Coaler always a Coaler!
Please collect any new school supplies for school-age children that would be needed to get these students off to a great new start (book bags, binders, pencils, crayons, notebooks, paper, folders, etc). You may turn supplies into any school in the district to the main office-some schools have already sent out requests. November 16th will be the last day items will be collected.
