Coal City High School issued the following announcement on Feb. 1.
Five different subjects in Family and Consumer Science are being taught this semester!
In Styles and Textiles, we are learning about the history of fashion, and students are gearing up to present on a self-chosen fashion era. In the foods world, Foods & Nutrition 2 just cooked up their first lab, Maple Bacon Oven Pancake. Foods & Nutrition 1 finished up learning about the history of food by creating poster presentations and sharing their food with the class. They are now working on learning about safety and sanitation, measuring, and recipe skills to be ready for their first lab, Scotcheroos. The Child Development 2 class is exploring the topic of toddler development. We have been learning about physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development for ages 1-3. They have been looking into common problems with toddlers and how to solve them, as well as exploring the hot topic of toddlers and technology use. Personal Living class has just finished up a unit on understanding yourself where we wrote “This is Who I am” stories and created “Unique Me” collages. We are heading into our unit on interpersonal relationships to learn about friendships, dating, and marriage.
