This past week, GAVC brought 56 students to Springfield for the SkillsUSA State Competition. The following programs were represented: Cosmetology, Fire Science, Computer Graphics, Criminal Justice, Welding, Automotive, IIT/CISCO, and Early Childhood Education. The students arrived on Thursday and the competition began with an Opening Ceremony. All of the students then attended a debriefing where they were told the guidelines for their competition as well as handing in their resumes. Bright and early Friday morning, the competitors reported to their assigned locations and the competitions began. Some students competed all day while others students have time limits to their competition. The students returned to the hotel and shared their competition stories with their GAVC advisors, fellow competitors, and other GAVC students.
