Coal City Community Unit School District 1 issued the following announcement on Aug. 30.
To kick off the school year, Mrs. Smith’s 6th grade English classes worked on a team building escape room activity.
Students were put into small teams and given four tasks that required some “out of the box” thinking in order to solve. Students had to work collaboratively with their teammates to try to be the first team in the class to escape. Throughout the school year students will be asked to work in small groups on various projects, and this escape room activity is used to teach students how to work together efficiently in order to complete a project.
