Grundy County police are reminding residents not to drink and drive this holiday season.
According to WSPY News, in the days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, at least 10 people were arrested in Grundy County for DUI. In 2018, Illinois Department of Transportation records show that 15 motor vehicle crash fatalities occurred in Illinois over Thanksgiving holiday weekend, with one-third of the deadly crashes involving at least one driver who had been drinking.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police and others branches of law enforcement plan to be out in abundance this holiday season, hoping to keep roadways clear of those who may be under the influence.
In addition, the Grundy County Emergency Management Agency is advising all motorists to carry emergency kits in their cars throughout the winter season. The kit should include three days' worth of food and water, cell phone charger, shovel and important documents.
