Coal City Community Unit School District 1 issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
Currently, in Fitness Concepts, students are finishing up the CPR/AED unit.
Students were trained through participation in activities where they watched videos, took notes, and practiced hands-on skills in what to do if they were to encounter a person who needed CPR. Students learned signs and symptoms in recognizing life-threatening emergencies, as well as how to check, call, and care for a person. Students practiced the steps in CPR and unconscious choking on manikins throughout the unit.
At the beginning of the year, Fitness for Life students attended a field trip at Manitoqua Camp in Frankfort, IL. The weather forced this class to have to leave early but not before participating in multiple team building activities lead by a Camp Instructor. The purpose of this field trip was to further implement the state and district standard; “develop skills necessary to become a successful member of a team by working with others during physical activity”. The photos attached show this class participating in team-building activities.
