Saratoga Community Consolidated School District 60-C Board of Education met Oct. 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Board Members present: Brittany Brandt, Brett Geiger, Ginger Jones, Scott Thorson, Mike Wright, Anne McDonnell

Also present were: Superintendent Kathy Perry, Assistant Principal Ashley Ringler, Cory Boaz and Pat Callahan with Studio GC, Brandon Grossi with Morris Herald Newspaper, Board

Secretary Marsha Henne

1. Building Addition Update

• Cory Boaz shared that there were 6 bids received.

• General Contractor R. L. Sohol was lowest bidder with base bid of $11,999,000

• Pat Callahan shared bids came in very favorable to district – project came in under budget

• Pat shared that Studio GC will still meet with two lowest bidders and will make recommendation to the Board for approval on Oct 21st.

• Pat also shared the district could use life safety money on hand towards approved costs.

• Pat explained there is $500,000 in contingency monies included in the base bid.

• Pat explained reasoning of adding possible concrete bus loop verses asphalt

• Supt. Perry discussed that soil that needed to be moved to back near rear of property to raise ground level to level ground for possible track in the future.

• Board members wanted to make sure taxpayers understood there would be no tax increase.

• Timeline – once bid is approved – 30 days after bid approval contractor should start project.

• Pat Callahan explained how project would be managed and who would be project manager, etc. All workers would be background checked prior to being allowed on property.

• All contractors will enter and leave south entrance.

2. Property Tax Levy

Supt. Perry stated she has not yet received information from the county to share with the Board at this time
