City of Highland Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library Board of Trustees met Jan. 21.

Roll Call showed the following members present:
Joshua Short Nancy Genteman Sharon Rinderer Bill Wagner Marshall Rinderer Joyce Zerban Louis Latzer, Associate Member Library Director, Angela Kim Absent member(s): Leeann Landmann, Justin McLaughlin, and Arnold Bodinet
Also in Attendance: Mike Nelms and Brad Blatter from Lazerware
The minutes of November 19, 2019 were reviewed. Marshall Rinderer motioned that the minutes be approved as amended and Bill Wagner seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion carried
No Treasurer’s report
Bills for November 2019 and December 2019 were presented for payment. Joshua Short made a motion to approve all bills presented for payment. Nancy Genteman seconded the motion. All voted yes on roll call. Motion carried.
Director, Angela Kim gave the Librarian’s Report.
● Angela made a submission for a Live and Learn Construction Grant for 50k which will need to be locally matched. This grant will be used for accessibility as well as replacement of part of the HVAC system
● The Per Capita Grant for 2020 was submitted to the Illinois State Library. The funds will be used for storage, shelving, and technology.
● Donna Plocher wrote and received a $500 grant from Sam’s Club in Edwardsville, this grant will be used towards the Coding Club. Donna was also the subject of an article in the Highland News Leader.
● The library will be participating in the Illinois Heartland Library System Library Crawl this January. Patrons will be given a passport to have stamped at participating libraries.
● The holiday dinner was a success, it was the 2nd highest amount we have ever brought in.
● The library will be received some funds through IMEA for the LED Lighting Project.
● Angela reorganized several storage areas of the library.
● A certified painter did 100 hours of community service and painted many areas of the library. Historic photos are being blown up to place around the library.
Book Committee Report: The Library received 175 donated items, including 159 books, 14 CDs, 2 DVDs and 1 $20.00
Old Business:
● Gazebo project – Tabled
● Per Capita Grant - Angela requested funds for storage, shelving, and technology.
New Business:
● Mike Nelms and Brad Blatter from Lazerware presented a one year contract to handle IT support for the library. Joyce Zerban motioned to approve the contract. Nancy Genteman seconded. All Approved
● New website – Tabled
● Live and Learn Grant – a 50k grant proposal was presented by Angela to the Illinois State Library, the funds will be used to accessibility and safety if awarded.
● A four percent wage increase plus an additional increase for Tara L. was presented by Bill Wagner. Joshua Short seconded the motion. All Approved
● Bill Wagner motioned to approve the 2019-2020 Budget. Marshall Rinderer seconded. All Approved
A motion to adjourn was made by Marshall Rinderer. Nancy Genteman seconded the motion. All voted yes, motion carried.
