GREATER CHANNAHON MINOOKA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE INC: Pritzker Announces Restore Illinois: A Public Health Approach To Safely Reopen Our State

Opencome

Greater Channahon Minooka Area Chamber Of Commerce Inc issued the following announcement on May 6.

Gov. Pritzker today shared some promising news for our local business economy – a 5 phase plan for reopening. The plan divides the state into regions, lumping Grundy County in with the Northeast region which includes Cook County. Being in the same region as Chicago will both help us and hurt us in different ways when it comes to reopening, but the Chamber will help you through it as much as we can.

We are currently in Phase 2 – which was the changes made May 1 allowing non-essential businesses to do curbside, requiring everyone in public to wear masks, etc. The Governor stated no region will be able to get to Phase 3 before May 29. While the hope of many is that Grundy County will be able to enter Phase 3 by May 29, this will depend on numerous factors including a stabilization and/decline of COVID cases being admitted to hospitals in the region. Which again, our region is made up of numerous counties, including Cook, all of which will be taken into consideration before we can move phases.

As each region enters a new phase, different industries will be able to reopen with specific requirements and restrictions. Phase 3-5 descriptions are listed below (we are through Phase 1 and in Phase 2 currently). The full “Restore Illinois” public health guide provided by the state can be found in the links at the bottom of this post. Below this letter is the full news release from the Governor’s office on the new phases. The Chamber will continue to circulate information and guidelines on best practices for reopening, including any announcements on our region moving phases. Please continue to monitor your emails from us, our website, and our social media posts. You of course can reach out to us with questions anytime at info@grundychamber.com or via my cell at 815-715-2806.

Phase descriptions:

“Phase 3 – Recovery: The rate of infection among those tested, the number of patients admitted to the hospital, and the number of patients needing ICU beds is stable or declining. Manufacturing, offices, retail, barbershops and salons can reopen to the public with capacity and other limits and safety precautions. All gatherings limited to 10 or fewer people are allowed. Face coverings and social distancing are the norm.

Phase 4 – Revitalization: The rate of infection among those tested and the number of patients admitted to the hospital continues to decline. All gatherings of up to 50 people are allowed, restaurants and bars reopen, travel resumes, child care and schools reopen under guidance from the IDPH. Face coverings and social distancing are the norm.

Phase 5 – Illinois Restored: With a vaccine or highly effective treatment widely available or the elimination of any new cases over a sustained period, the economy fully reopens with safety precautions continuing. Conventions, festivals and large events are permitted, and all businesses, schools, and places of recreation can open with new safety guidance and procedures in place reflecting the lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
