3. OT-367. Clarification of the General Rules sections on intellectual property in relation to course materials.

The USC Statutes and Governance Committee has provided an interpretation of the General Rules section on intellectual property in relation to the ownership of course materials. This issue is timely now that many courses are moving to online delivery. The USC SGC requests that USC approve the statement and agree to forward it to the senates.

4. OT-368. USC in the next academic year.

There will be a discussion of what USC might look like in the future and how shared governance and interactions with the senates could be improved.

5. ST-83. Revisions to the Statutes – new proposed revisions and proposed revisions from ST-77 that need further discussion (B File). Sent to Executive Vice President Wilson 5/1/20.

USC approved sending the most recent version of the new proposed revisions to the Statutes to Executive Vice President Wilson for discussion with University Counsel, System HR, and the USC Statutes and Governance Committee.

6. ST-84. Proposed Revisions to the Statutes, Article VIII, Section 4 – Changes in Existing Units. Passed UIUC Senate 11/12/18. Transmitted to Senates 12/18/18. Revised UIUC Senate document 4/22/19. Transmitted to UIC and UIS Senates 5/7/19. Passed UIS Senate 8/30/19. Passed with amendments UIC Senate 1/30/20. UIC Senate amendments transmitted to UIS and UIUC Senates 3/2/20. Passed UIS Senate 4/3/20. Passed with amendments UIUC Senate 4/27/20.

The USC Statutes and Governance Committee was asked to reconcile the language approved by the senates for USC to consider. USC then needs to decide whether the reconciled version needs to go back to the senates for information or for another round of approval, or whether it is ready to be forwarded to the Board

7. ST-85. Proposed Revisions to the Statute, Article X, Section 1 (Tenure of Academic Staff) (a) 6 and 7 – to permit the use of five-year appointments for non-tenure track faculty. Passed UIC Senate 4/22/20. Transmitted to UIC and UIS Senates 5/1/20.

The proposed statutory revisions approved by the UIC Senate were transmitted to the UIS and UIUC Senates.

8. ST-86. Proposed Revisions to the Statutes, Article III, Sections 3 and 5, and Article VI – Dean, Director, or Campus Librarian. Passed UIUC Senate 4/27/20. Transmitted to UIC and UIS Senates 5/1/20.

The proposed statutory revisions approved by the UIUC Senate were transmitted to the UIC and UIS Senates.

9. NC-26. Nominating Committee for 2020-21 Officers, Executive Committee, and USC Committees.

The Nominating Committee members, Lynn Fisher, chair; James Brennan; and Aria Razfar, will provide a slate of nominees for officers and a proposed list of committee members for the June 25 meeting. The Committee has requested nominations.

10. OT-326. USC Presentations to the Board of Trustees. Professor De Groote will give the July report to the Board.

11. OT-356. Discovery Partners Institute. Transmitted to Senates 2/28/19. Endorsed UIS Senate 3/22/19. UIC Senate did not pass; sent list of concerns 3/27/19. Endorsed UIUC Senate 4/22/19. Transmitted to President 5/7/19. USC Response to Recommendations for Shared Governance for the Discovery Partners Institute from the DPI Academic Governance Advisory Group 9/23/19.

DPI will be discussed during the morning session with President Killeen and EVP Wilson.

12. OT-363. Recognizing and Rewarding Faculty Participation in Shared Governance.

14. OT-365. System Policies on Sexual Misconduct - University of Illinois System Policy on Intimate Personal Relationships and University of Illinois Policy on Consideration of Sexual Misconduct in Prior Employment. Sent to USC by the Executive Vice President 2/14/20. USC advice 2/25/20. Revised policies to USC from the Executive Vice President 3/30/20. Transmitted to Senates 4/2/20.

The Board of Trustees approved the system policies on May 21. Next steps will be discussed during the morning session with President Killeen and EVP Wilson.

15. OT-366. Revisions to the Policy on Integrity in Research and Publication. Sent to USC by the Executive Vice President 3/16/20. Transmitted to Senates 4/2/20.

The draft policy has been sent to the senates for review and feedback.
