Illinois State Senate Committee on Equal Opportunity and Inclusion met July 23.

A regular meeting of the Senate Committee on Equal Opportunity and Inclusion was called to order at 2:00 pm with Chair Pionke presiding.

I.INTRODUCTIONS

Introductions were made.

II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The minutes of the months of May 21, 2020 and June 25, 2020 were approved as distributed.

III.PUBLIC COMMENT

No requests received. 

IV.CHAIR’S REMARKS

Chair Pionke thanked Arain for meeting with the committee. 

OLD BUSINESS

Review of the following Resolutions:

•EQ.13.01 – Resolution on Diversity Values Statement

Garrick would like for his office to work with EQ on revising this statement. The committee discussed options on moving forward with revising this statement.

•EQ.14.02 – Resolution on Support of Awareness of Women in Engineering

No discussion was had on this item. It will be discussed at a future meeting. 

•EQ.17.01 – Resolution on Inclusive Campus Climate

No discussion was had on this item. It will be discussed at a future meeting.

•EQ.18.01 – Resolution on Planned Termination of Deferred Action for ChildhoodArrivals Policy

No discussion was had on this item. It will be discussed at a future meeting.

•EQ.18.02 - Resolution on Native American Imagery and University Climate
