The City of Morris has entered into two deals with Hudson Energy that will save the city thousands in energy costs, according to WCSJ News.
The first proposal is to switch out the lights at the Morris City Hall Parking lot with more energy efficient LED lights.
"If everything meets their criteria, they will actually have a third party come out and change those lights out with LEDS", said Morris Mayor Dick Kopczick at the Dec. 21 meeting. "They will pay for them and we will reap the benefits of lower cost electrical."
Kopczick added that the estimated savings benefit of the upgrade would be approximately $5,000 annually.
The second proposal is to upgrade the lights at the Morris swimming pool to LEDs as well.
"It's the lights that are all around the pool," Kopczick told WCSJ News. "If we were in a more temperate climate and ran them a lot longer most of the year, you would actually be seeing an over $25,000 savings, but we will still see quite a savings coming forth in this next season."
