Village of Coal City Village Board Met March 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

At 7 p.m., Mayor Terry Halliday called to order the Public Hearing of the Coal City Village Board in the boardroom of the Village Hall. Roll call-Trustees Dave Togliatti, Ross Bradley, Dave Spesia, Tim Bradley and Sarah Beach. Absent was Trustee Dan Greggain. Also in attendance were attorney Mark Heinle, Matt Fritz, village administrator, Police Chief Tom Best and Ryan Hansen from Chamlin Engineering

The purpose of this Public Hearing is to close out the Downstate Small Business Stabilization Grant. Two businesses from the Village, Broadway Dance Center and Gymnastics X-Calibur received grant money, due to loss of revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic. Broadway Dance Center received $21,600 and Gymnastics X-Calibur received $25,000. This Public Hearing finalizes and closes out the grants for the two businesses.

Clerk Noffsinger presented two letters from the businesses. Kim Scerine, owner of Broadway Dance Center thanked the Board for the grant opportunity and the use of the funding to mitigate the impact from COVID-19 and was able to continue to operate during the pandemic. Sari Engle, President and Owner of Gymnastics X-Calibur thanked the Village for the assistance in receiving grant funds which gave her the opportunity to re open the business and allowed her the opportunity to continue to operate. The funds were used to meet payroll and operating expenses.

R. Bradley moved to adjourn the Public Hearing, second by Togliatti. Roll call-Ayes; Togliatti, Bradley, Spesia, Bradley and Beach. Nays; none. Absent; Greggain. Motion carried and closed the meeting at 7:03 p.m.
