Village of Diamond issued the following announcement on May. 12.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine eligibility expanded to include persons as young as 12 years old. Earlier this week, the FDA extended the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Prifzer/BioNTech’s COVID-19 Vaccine to ages 12 years and older.

The CDC’s independent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) met Wednesday, May 12, to review data on the safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, as well as clinical considerations for the use of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID1- vaccines in adolescents under the EUA.

ACIP has determined to expand Pfizer’s EUA to include ages 12 to 15. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now authorized by the EUA for ages 12 years and older. Johnson and Johnson and Moderna vaccines remain authorized only for ages 18 years and older.

Grundy County Health Department is pleased to announce that appointments for Pfizer are available as soon as Friday, May 14, for anyone ages 12 years and older. To access available appointment times, please visit www.grundyhealth.com, or call 815-941-3404.
