University of Illinois System Senate Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion met Oct. 8.

Absent: Kaamilyah Abdullah-Span, Megan Burke, Amysha Langley, Patrobas Wafula, Giocanda Guerra Perez (ex officio)
Guests: Breanna Robinson (Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Diversity, Equity &
Inclusion and Sports Administration)
I. CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Senate Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (EQ) was called to order at 11:30 am with Chair Pionke presiding.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of the minutes of the April 9, 2021 and September 10, 2021 meetings were deferred due to a lack of quorum.
III. PUBLIC COMMENT
No requests received.
IV. CHAIR’S REMARKS
Chair Pionke shared that the diversity coordinators on campus have been emailed and they will be attending meetings in October and November. Chair Pionke shared that the committee may be asked for feedback regarding the move of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) out of the College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) into the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at some point.
V. OLD BUSINESS
EQ.20.05, Americans with Disability Act (ADA) Resolution
No discussion.
EQ.21.01, Resolution on Revised Diversity Statement (EQ.13.01)
The committee discussed revisions. Chair Pionke will update the document.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
Topics of discussion
• Invite Diversity Committee Chairs from colleges on campus
Breanna Robinson – Division of Intercollegiate Athletics
Robinson shared with the committee the current programs in place with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.
