REQUESTS OF COMMISSION MEMBERS

⮚ Joe Garson was selected as the Commission’s Chair-person

⮚ John C. commented that he has heard a lot of positive comments about the Mural at the WCC. He also asked if there is an update or status report for Plaza Park. Director Rosen commented that it’s going well and that new trash receptacles have been ordered. He also mentioned that although the picnic tables will not have concrete pads under them immediately, he wants to leave them up there on grass to determine where people prefer to have them.

⮚ Joe G. asked about the Thursday Night Live Concerts and that he would have a Christian Rock group that he could call on if someone else canceled or perhaps for next year. Director Rosen said he would consider it after watching/listening to a clip.

DEPARTMENT UPDATES

⮚ Director Rosen provided a variety of updates ranging from the price increases at the KRC and the plans for the money that was donated. He covered information regarding the Madison County PEP money and leveraging; hopefully, the MEPRD grant to install a new playground at Hoffman Park. Although the department will consider memorial park benches, the department is going to transition into offering picnic tables instead.

NEW BUSINESS

⮚ Library Pool Passes – Director Rosen gave credit to Laura Wilken from the department for this idea. It is, in essence, the Library issuing a pool pass to anyone coming into the Library to ask. This will encourage reading as well as a weekly opportunity to use the Outdoor Pool.

⮚ On April 23, 2022, the Rotary is leading a charge with other civic organizations to clean up parks. Fresh coats of paint, leaf removal, etc. Spring clean-up.

With no further business to discuss, a motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 8:00pm.
