Keeping the safety of kids in mind, Rep. Jackie Haas shares some tips for Halloween.
In an Oct. 18 Facebook post, Haas shared tips on Halloween costumes.
"Halloween is just around the corner! Here are some important costume tips to help kids celebrate safely this year:" Haas said.
In her post, Haas shared a Facebook post from the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office that gave Halloween costume safety tips: "#Halloween is getting closer and kids have that perfect costume in mind. Parents, keep these tips in mind when ordering or purchasing a costume for your little ghosts and monsters." The graphic includes tips like: Fasten reflective tape to the costume for increased visibility and choose brightly colored costumes. Be sure to check the candy before you child eats it. Flashlights or glow sticks help increase visibility. Costumes including shoes, should be well-fitted. Choose non-toxic face paint and decorative hats as safer alternatives over masks that can obstruct vision. Choose a costume that is flame-resistant. Knives, swords, and accessories should be made of cardboard, or flexible materials.
Haas recently thanked the Illinois Manufacturers Association IMEC for stopping at CSL Bering during the Makers on the Move Bus Tour. "Thank you to IMA and IMEC for making a stop at CSL Bering in the 79th District as part of Manufacturing Month, and a stop on your Makers on the Move bus tour," Haas posted. "I’m very proud to have a site right here in our district highlighted in your bus tour that will visit manufacturing facilities, colleges and high schools across Illinois to raise awareness about the exciting job opportunities and careers available in the manufacturing industry."
Haas also talked about the Recovering America's Wildlife Act. “The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (RAWA) passed the U.S. House in June and has bipartisan support in the U.S. Senate,” Rep. Jackie Hass (R-Kankakee) wrote on Facebook. “RAWA funds go towards the conservation of America's wildlife, fisheries and habitats. Under the Wildlife Conservation Restoration Program, monies would be allocated directly to the states to manage our nation's threatened and endangered species and the natural areas they call home.”
