PUBLIC HEARING

Water System Improvement Project Information

The City Council of the City of Vienna, met Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Vienna City Hall for a Public Hearing on Water System Improvement Project Information with the following members and guest:

Steve Penrod, Mayor

Melissa Hill, Alderman

Ron Pitts, Alderman

Angela Moore, Alderman

Austin Tuey, Alderman

Alan Racey, Alderman

Tim Elliott, Alderman

There being a quorum, Mayor Penrod called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:00 p.m.

Mayor Penrod said the city was in the process of applying for a forty-year USDA, Rural Development Grant/Loan for the following city water system improvements/construction cost estimates:

Water Main replacements-$2,756,250.00

Elevated Storage Tank Repairs/Painting-$470,000.00

Water Plant Repairs-$500,000.00

The water portion of the IDOT 146 East project will also be included in the loan at an estimated, $641,000.00.

Council discussed the project costs would increase water rates for residents. Ing, with Horner & Schifrin, said once the city finds out what grant percentage they will receive, the city can determine what rate increases are necessary. Penrod noted that Tax Increment Funds could be used annually towards the project. The loan/grant application process is still ongoing.

PUBLIC COMMENT

No public questions or comments were made.

Alderman Moore made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Alderman Hill. All present in favor.

Mayor Penrod adjourned the meeting at 6:20 p.m.
