3. GIS Mapping Fees
The Grundy County GIS Department receives funding through GIS Fees (GIS Fund 040‐01‐3410), which derive revenue from land record recording fees.
Periodically, assessing how revenue is keeping pace with expenditures becomes necessary. The last time this occurred was in 2017 when a cost study was performed which determined that the GIS
Fee could be increased to $38.29; the fee was increased to $28.00 six years ago.
That fee is quickly approaching a point where it no longer meets the department's year to‐
year budgeted obligations, the remaining balance is expected to be
exhausted entirely within the second half of 2024. As a result, this department recommends that the fee be increased to $38.00 for the 2024 fiscal year, which should ensure the proper amount of revenue to cover expenditures for the foreseeable future.
