The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

There being a quorum, Mayor Penrod called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS
Shane Racey, City Superintendent, turned in a letter of resignation from the superintendent position.
Alderman Racey made a motion to Authorize and Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the April 3, 2024 meeting minutes, March Treasurer Report and the Warrant ($17,692.05). Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
Alderman Racey made a motion to Authorize and Approve quote from Cains Heating and cooling $13,975.00 (TIF Funds) for replacement of city depot HVAC unit replacement. Alderman Hill seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
Alderman Pitts made a motion to Authorize and Approve TIF Funds in the amount of $93,786.00 to Horner & Shifrin for design services for Water Improvements through 12-31-22. Alderman Elliott seconded the motion. All present in favor, motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Joe Emery commented on the high volume of tourists visiting Vienna during the solar eclipse weekend.
ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS
Clerk Wright announced the upcoming spring trash cleanup scheduled for Monday, April 29th and the Spring Fling carnival scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 3-4th.
Alderman Tuey commented on the fire departments recently acquired fire engine. Tuey said the department would hold training sessions before the engine was taken out on calls. Tuey said he was contacted by a former city official concerning the need of alternate access to Hillview Nursing Home. The topic had been discussed in prior years. Council had discussion.
Council discussed getting an estimate on repairing the old bathrooms at the city park.
Mayor Penrod said the city received a $4,300.00 reimbursement from B& P Enterprises for a hydrant break caused by their employees. Penrod said the city also received Tax Increment Financing Fund reimbursement of $4,200.00 from KF Meats.
Penrod said a portion of 6th street would need to be raised 8 inches as the county would be installing a sidewalk to the entrance of the new courthouse.
Penrod announced asbestos inspections were scheduled for Monday, April 22nd for five dilapidated homes on the demolition grant list.
As there was no further business to discuss, Alderman Tuey made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Alderman Pitts. Mayor Penrod declared the meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
