City of Vienna City Council met Sept. 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session for a special meeting, Wednesday, September 24, 2024 at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guests:

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS PRESENT:

Steve Penrod, Mayor

Melissa Hill, Alderman

Tim Elliott, Alderman

Ron Pitts, Alderman

Alan Racey, Alderman

Angela Moore, Alderman

Aleatha Wright, Clerk

Justin Hartline, City Supt

ELECTED/APPOINTED ABSENT:

Austin Tuey, Alderman

GUESTS

Austin Pender

There being a quorum, Mayor Penrod called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 5:00 p.m.

Alderman Racey made a motion to go into Executive Session for Employment as per 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1)-Interview for Public Works Department position. Alderman Pitts seconded the motion. Motion carried.

At 5:35 p.m. Alderman Elliott made a motion to go into Regular Session. Alderman Hill seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Alderman Pitts made a motion to Authorize and Approve the employment of Austin Pender for Public Works Gas Supt. position effective October 14,2024. In addition, the probation period will be waived, wage set at full-scale union pay, immediate insurance enrollment and one week of vacation time advanced. Alderman Elliott seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.

As there was no further business to discuss, Alderman Pitts made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Alderman Elliott. Mayor Penrod declared the meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
