State Senator Sue Rezin has announced an extension for her annual "Valentines for Seniors" card drive. The new deadline for submissions is February 10, allowing more people to participate in this initiative aimed at bringing joy to residents of long-term care and assisted-living facilities.
“Each year, I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown by our community through this initiative,” said Senator Rezin. “Extending the deadline ensures that even more people can take part in brightening a senior’s day with a simple, thoughtful message.”
Senator Rezin encourages churches, schools, and individuals within the 38th Senate District to write Valentine’s Day cards filled with messages of kindness and appreciation. These cards will be delivered to seniors across the district, fostering intergenerational connections.
Participants can drop off or mail their cards until February 10 at one of Senator Rezin's district offices located in Morris, Peru, or DeKalb. Additionally, the Yorkville Public Library is also accepting card submissions.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this wonderful initiative to help uplift the spirit of our local seniors,” said Yorkville Public Library Director Shelley Augustine. “Libraries have always served as a hub for community engagement, and this partnership is a perfect opportunity for people of all ages to come together and share kindness.”
