Donald R. Winke, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 13, 2025, in Coal City. Born on December 11, 1954, in Joliet, Don was the son of Richard and Geraldine Winke.

Don graduated from Lockport High School in 1971 and spent many years as a truck driver before transitioning to a career in carpentry. His work not only displayed his craftsmanship but also reflected his desire to leave a lasting legacy through his projects.

Described as a man of quiet strength, Don had a close-knit circle of friends who appreciated his loyalty and warmth. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Tasha, who brought him constant joy and companionship.

Survived by his son Matt Winke, grandsons Cayden and Cooper Winke, and siblings Dennis Winke, Debbie Hayes, and Dawn Huser, Don will be remembered for the integrity and hard work he imparted to his family. He was preceded in death by his brother David Winke and his parents, Richard and Geraldine Winke.

A memorial service for Don will be held at a later date. Memorials in his honor can be made to his family.
