Morris, IL - Ramiro Avila, aged 90, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Morris, IL. Born on September 23, 1934, in El Capulin, Tepetongo, Zac., Mexico, to Luis Avila Escobedo and Maria De Los Angeles Marquez Nunez, Ramiro's legacy was marked by his commitment to his family and community.

Ramiro is survived by his wife of 51 years, Guadalupe Avila; his children, Alvaro Avila and Maria Teresa Avila (Jim Gannon); his sister, Socorro Avila; and many cousins and extended family members. In 1968, he was recruited as a Plastic Molding Expert in Mexico City, which brought him to Morris, IL, where he later worked at Sponge Cushion until his retirement. Ramiro and Guadalupe made their home in Morris, where they raised their family and found fulfillment in helping friends and contributing to the local Latino community.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at U.C. Davis Callahan Funeral Home, located at 301 West Washington Street, Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, situated at 516 East Jackson Street, Morris.
