The Illinois Police Officer Memorial Ceremony was held on May 1 in Springfield to pay tribute to law enforcement officers who died while serving. The day commenced with a squad car procession at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, followed by an interfaith service at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The formal ceremony took place at the Illinois State Library.

State Senator Sue Rezin expressed support for police officers, stating that she and her Republican colleagues honor their service and sacrifices. During the event, nine fallen officers' names were added to a monument in Springfield dedicated to those who have died in service. This year, for the first time, K-9 partners killed in duty were also honored.
