Ameren Illinois has introduced a $4 million assistance program aimed at helping income-qualified households manage higher electricity bills during the summer. The initiative offers a one-time $150 grant to eligible customers, responding to increased demand, rising supply costs, and extreme heat that have contributed to higher energy expenses.

The program is distinct from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), but Ameren Illinois encourages families who may qualify for either program to reach out to their local LIHEAP agency for eligibility screening and application. Agencies will be responsible for distributing the new funds. Customers can find their local agency by visiting HelpIllinoisFamilies.com or calling 833-711-0374. Funding will be available until resources are exhausted.

Additional support options remain open for customers facing challenges with their energy bills. LIHEAP will resume accepting applications on October 1, providing direct bill assistance as well as benefits like waived deposits and late fees. Ameren Illinois also continues its energy efficiency programs, which include in-home assessments and upgrades such as insulation or improved heating and ventilation systems designed to reduce long-term costs. More information about these programs can be found at AmerenIllinois.com/PathtoSavings.

Rezin, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2010 to represent the state's 38th Senate District, replacing previous state senator Gary G. Dahl.

"Ameren Illinois has launched a new program to provide relief for income-qualified households," according to the company’s statement.
