Certified Teacher Evaluation Plan-Public Act 104-0020 (SB28) was signed into law effective July 1, 2025: Student Growth is no longer a required factor in evaluations. I met with the PERA Committee on 8/18 and felt that student growth was still an important piece to the evaluation process and wanted to have it remain in the plan.

Information and Discussion

A. Student Enrollment numbers: EC/PK-21, K-12, 1-13, 2-15, 3-17, 4-15, 5-13, 6-16, 7-14, 8-15. Total: 151. We had 19 new students enroll this year not including our 12 new kindergarten students. 12 students moved out of GGS.

B. Girls’ Basketball Numbers-From Austin: 5th-5, 6th-4, 7th-2, 8th-2: It is possible we get another couple of girls who did not show up to the parent meeting and not necessarily will everyone who did show up, go out. Only in our 5th grade group do we have enough to make a team. Similarly to last year, when we have 5th/6th and 7th/8th games on the same night, have the 6th girls play with the 7th/8th girls, and then play a 6th grade game and a shortened 2nd game to allow for the other school’s players an opportunity to play.

C. Law Alert-FYI Teacher Resignation Requirements

D. Active shooter training conducted by Grundy County Sheriff’s Department took place July 29 and 31st. Very successful and not issues to report. Sheriff Briley was very thankful that we allowed them to practice at GGS.

E. We hosted a mobile vaccine clinic through IDPH for all of our area schools on 8/5 from 10am-2pm. We provided free vaccines to 5 area students. The mobile dentist will be here in November for all 4 schools.

F. Open house on August 12th 6-7pm. This was the first time we held it prior to the start of school and it was a huge success. Many more in attendance than in previous years.

G. Teacher Institute was August 12 & 13. GGS Hosted BES, SWGS, & GSW on 8/12 for a joint presentation to get the year started. Breakfast was served. The 4 schools shared the cost of the presenter and food. K-5th grade had training on the new reading series.

H. 15 passenger activity bus: Just throwing it out there to see if this is something the board would like to look further into?
