Minooka FD responds to 83 fires in 2017

Minooka Fire Department responded to 267 calls in 2017 - 16 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Minooka included 83 fires - 35 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 38 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $171,900 in fire loss - or about $2,071 per fire.

The department also received 183 false calls.

The Minooka Fire Department had an annual budget of $4,238,213 in 2016.

The Minooka FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 14 active employees and four retired or inactive employees, was $147,580 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,942 for every fire in 2016.
