Seneca residents will decide whether or not legal cannabis businesses should be allowed to operate within the village’s limits.

The question of whether a cannabis company will be able to operate in the village will appear on the March 17 referendum, according to WCJSNews.com.

There are currently no zoning allowances in the village for those in the marijuana business.

Seneca is one of a number of villages and cities in the state that are considering similar issues surrounding marijuana-related businesses.

The Village of Maple Park in Dekalb County is also exploring the topic of allowing recreational cannabis businesses to operate within its boundary limits.

In DuPage County, the Village of Lemont and the City of Naperville are mulling over the allowance of marijuana dispensaries and the legalization of the possession, usage and sale of recreational cannabis to adults. The Village of Grant Park is discussing the topic of allowing cannabis dispensaries to sell marijuana within the village; and in Will County, Rockdale is considering allowing business enterprises for the use of cannabis among adults.
