Gardner Fire Protection District responded to 44 calls in 2018 - 15.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Gardner included 32 fires - 16 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 12 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

The department also received 10 false calls.

The Gardner Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $527,399 in 2018.
